 The V Foundation Public Cancer Forum  10:30 am    (Community)
The V Foundation for Cancer Research will host the 2nd annual North Carolina public cancer forum. Doctors and researchers from Moffitt Cancer Center, Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center, and UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center will present the latest cutting edge developments in cancer research in our very own community. The event will include an introduction by CEO of The V Foundation, Nick Valvano, presentations by researchers, and a Q & A discussion panel. Free and open to the public.

 V Gala for Cancer Research  6:00pm    (Community)
The 17th Annual V Gala for Cancer Research will be an elegant, black tie affair celebrating a year of achievements in cancer research by The V Foundation. The evening will include both silent and live auctions as well as a special message of hope presented by The V Foundation. A dinner prepared with North Carolina foods will be designed by local chefs and entertainment for the evening will be provided by native North Carolinians. Open to the public.  Raleigh Police Memorial Foundation's Five-O 50K and 100K Memorial Ride  7:30 AM- 100K; 8:30 AM 50K    (Charity)
The Raleigh Police Memorial Foundation will host the Five-O 50K and 100K Memorial Ride that will honor Raleigh's fallen police officers. All proceeds will go to building a memorial for these officers who have died in the line of duty. On the day of the race, both the 100K riders along with the 50K riders will enjoy a scenic view of North Raleigh that will include rest stops along the way. Lunch will be provided for participates immediately after the race. Pre-registration is $35 per cyclist and $40 on the day of the event. Register online: rpdmemorial.org
 Garner White Deer Dash 5k & Family Fun Run  8am & 8:30am    (Sports)
The Town of Garner announces its 3rd Annual White Deer Dash 5k & Family Fun Run on Saturday, August 21, at Lake Benson Park. The Family Fun Run begins at 8am and cost $10 per person. The first 50 children are FREE. The 5k follows the Family Fun Run and begins at 8:30am. Both races start and finish at Lake Benson Park. Register before August 6 and pay $30. After August 6, $35.
